According to the book of Matthew 2,11, gold, frankincense and myrrh were among the gifts to Jesus by the Biblical Magi "from the East." It is burnt on charcoal, on its own or mixed with frankincense and sometimes other resins. Myrrh is also used to prepare the sacramental chrism. Inside the box, the resin is packed in a resealable bag to preserve its natural aroma.
